2009 – best movies I watched on DVD

The title doesn’t mean the movies were released in 2009.

It’s just a list of the best DVDs that fed the delicate mouth of my DVD player in 2009.

And, oh, for this list I will not bother you with  niche-y stuff like docs about Andrei Tarkovsky, or Romanian art cinema of the 1980’s…

The setup at the home of my friend Florin Stan - in Baia Mare, Transylvania

  • In Bruges (2008)
  • Doubt (2008)
  • I’ve Loved You So Long (Il y a longtemps que je t’aime) (2008)
  • Revolutionary Road (2008)
  • Death at a Funeral (2007) – Brit humor at its best
  • The Savages (2007)
  • How Much Do You Love Me? (Combien tu m’aimes?) (2005) – Monica Bellucci……..
  • Things We Lost in the Fire (2007)
  • Lust, Caution (Se, jie) (2007)
  • Mechanic, The (1972) – best Charles Bronson movie for me. Read the short-story, too.
  • Breaker! Breaker! (1977) – we are allowed one Chuck Norris movie / per year, so this was my choice -)
  • The Bank Job (2008)
  • Tex Avery’s Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection (1954) – my sense of humor is derived from here
