Romanian Film Festival – Toronto 2015, Feb 28 and March 1st. All with English subtitles.

For all of you film buffs out there, this is a unique chance to watch six new Romanian cinema productions (all with English subtitles), courtesy of Montreal’s ROCADE Association and its partners.

In North America, there is no other way to see them but this festival. These movies are not available in theaters, on DVD, Netflix or anywhere else.

They are all subtitled in English, and available to you during the last weekend of hibernation, um, February.

  1. Romanian cinema is hot! Days ago Romanian director Radu Jude got the Silver Bear for Best Director at prestigious Berlin International Film Festival. See you at the theater!

  2. I would love to see some of these Romanian movies…which one would you recommend and why? Have you seen any of the ones on the list?

    • Thanks Vivian for your comment! I recommend all of them, honestly. KYRA KYRALINA is directed by Dan Pita, author of such cult movies as Concurs and Pas in Doi in the 1980s. It would be interesting to see if he is as relevant today as he was then. THE COMMUNIST DETENTION CAMP “WHITE GATE” reminds the horror stories of communism rule in Romania, less known in the Western world. KILLING TIME is the feature and has director Florin Piersic Jr. ready to answer your questions. And so on…See you there!
