Four books to read in Cuba this winter

It’s December 2017 and Toronto broke a 57-year old cold temperature record. Time to book a last-minute trip to the blue-white paradise, and pack a good book.
I read all of them while vacationing in Cuba. Nothing better than following the trials and tribulations of the characters while enjoying a mojito, not really far from where the action was.

Portraying Florida’s Key West and Cuba in the 1930s, this is a book EH wrote under the influence of the Great Depression and revised as he participated to the Spanish Civil War.

Published at the end of 1958, just before the Cuban revolution brought Fidel Castro to power. Fidel allowed the movie made after the book to be shot in Havana, and Green visited Cuba several times in the early 1960s.
