Judge Not: Timeless Lessons from Queen Marie of Romania

Few people realize that 100 years ago, Queen Marie of Romania—then 50 years old—was writing as a columnist for the Toronto Star.

Although she had previously contributed a series of 16 syndicated articles to the Toronto Daily Star in 1925, her new column, launched in January 1926, carried a more personal distinction: it was proudly labeled “Written for The Toronto Star.”

This regular feature helped raise her profile among Canadian readers and strengthened her connection with the public. It also helps explain the enthusiastic reception she received during her one-day visit to Toronto in October 1926, when crowds turned out to see one of the most famous women of her time.

In this column, originally published on April 12, 1926, Queen Marie reflects on timeless Bible truths—offering a message about judgment, compassion, and human nature that still resonates today.
