I was lucky to be around when multiple award winning, Romanian photographer Silviu Ghetie begun his career.
It was early 1990s, in our Transylvanian hometown Baia Mare, when I befriended Silviu, and occasionally served as a model during his shoots. I loved the cinematic quality coming out of his portraits of mine, and we were jokingly saying that I missed a career in acting. Have a look…
For the past 20+ years, Silviu’s career unfolded in many projects and directions, and some of them were in still photography for award-winning movies from the new wave of Romanian cinema.
Silviu’s work for “Aferim!” leaves me anxious to watch the movie, if only for its cinematography (if you watch the trailer at the bottom of this post, the story is exciting, too!).
Here’s a gallery of Silviu’s stills – see the complete album on Facebook.
