Victory! 100 years since 11/11, the end of War World I

Here is how the two newspapers in Toronto marked the end of the war 100 years ago, and how Romania was mentioned that day in the Canadian press.

As a Canadian immigrant of Romanian origin, I was interested on how the Canadian press mentioned Romania during the months leading to the end of the War World I. Romania’s national day is December 1st, marking the day when, in 1918, modern Romania was born following the war.

Romania was mentioned in the terms of the armistice. The terms were negotiated over a period of three days, and signed on 11 November 1918, with the 11th hour chosen for the guns to stop.

Romania was also mentioned in this analysis published in The Globe on Nov 11, 1918
