A classy way to learn about Romania’s contribution to the world’s music.

Romania’s national day is December 1st. It is at that day, 100 years ago, that the “great union” happened following a gathering in Alba Iulia. Modern Romania was born with the Transylvanians joining the existing Romanian state at the end of War World I.

To celebrate the National Day and the 100th anniversary of the Great Union, Tradicious (a Toronto based organization that builds bridges between Romanian and Canadian cultures) is inviting you to discover Romanian (and Romanian based) classical music.

Conveniently scheduled on a Saturday evening (8 PM) at the beautiful Isabel Bader Theatre in the U of T campus, it features well known pieces (Enescu), but also shares some light on a brilliant 7-minute, piano & orchestra work by Nicolae Kirculescu, familiar to Romanians from the opening credits of the enduring TV show “Teleenciclopedia” (you can listen to it at number #4 in this Apple Music playlist).

On December 1st, Enescu’s dearly loved “Romanian Rhapsodies” will delight the audience of the Isabel Bader Theatre, in an exceptional concert by Kindred Spirits Orchestra.

 

We are proud to partner up with KSO conducted by Kristian Alexander, for this concert that also features Béla Bartók’s “Romanian Folk Dances”, Antonio Vivaldi’s famous Violin Concerto No. 4 “Winter”, Edvard Grieg’s thrilling “Piano Concerto”, and Nicolae Kirculescu’s impassioned “Musical moment” for piano and orchestra.

This wonderful concert is celebrating the National Day of Romania and 100 years since the Great Union! Let’s celebrate together!
