In 2001, primul meu an de emigrant la Toronto, am scris si inregistrat saptamanal o emisiune pe care am numit-o dupa un graffitti de pe un zid din Cluj: Canada, pamant romanesc.

From Monday morning to Friday night, I drive to work. 45 minutes each way. I get to listen to the music I like. Some albums come and go, some go on heavy rotation. Heavy rotation is a radio term, and means a song that gets played around the clock many times.
This week's album in heavy-rotation in my car belongs to Otis Taylor and it is recently released: CONTRABAND.

TEXT – Mircea Panzaru reciting his own lyrics (“Navigatorul”)

MUSIC  George Winston “Color Dance”  from LP Autumn (1980)

RUNNING TIME: 15 minutes

In the light of the  ‘homeless with a golden voice’ story, I offer you a mesmerizing voice that is yet to be discovered and promoted in the mainstream.

He knows English, but I will play him in Romanian, so you can focus on the voice rather than what he says.

Of course, if you understand Romanian, I trust you will be impressed by Mircea’s poem as well.
